Halcyon

Pretty Girls Make Graves - Selling The Wind
Pretty Girls Make Graves - This Is Our Emergency
Love the groove and slinky accordion on the new track and of course, Andrea Zollo. Sometimes, late at night in Taiwan, MTV would play alternative "Western" videos and I happened to catch the one for "This Is Our Emergency" while channel-surfing. Both song and video are badass and I can't wait to see these guys live.

This is an adventure.

Luna -- The Owl & The Pussycat
Luna -- Mermaid Eyes
Britta Phillips & Dean Wareham -- Ginger Snaps
These songs are so damn pretty, especially Britta's "la-la-la-la's" during the chorus on the first track. The second song features one of my favorite second halves ever. And the last one just radiates cool.

All The Real Girls

I don't use the word "charming" lightly, but Jenny Lewis is exactly that. I've seen her perform 6 times (5 w/Rilo Kiley, 1 w/Postal Service) now and have come to the conclusion that she is the greatest singer of my generation. This live clip has her singing AND dancing to the song that first introduced me to RK. I'm still torn between going to her Austin show or being alive at work the next day -- egad.

Feed me tomatoes and radio wire.

Neutral Milk Hotel -- Two-Headed Boy, Pt. 2
Probably the most emotionally resonant vocal performance I've ever heard -- a true definition of passion. When I first heard In The Aeroplane Over The Sea, I just wasn't ready for it. Now, 8 years after its original release, it resides in my best-of list in terms of being a complete album.

Dinosaur Jr -- Get Me
J Mascis is a guitar god. The track itself is fairly pedestrian, but the solos absolutely soar. His fingerprints are all over Juliana Hatfield's style, and for that I am grateful.

No one's home and the weather's fine, I'd rather wait for you...

Built To Spill -- The Weather
There will probably never be a movie version of The Catcher In The Rye, but I'm convinced this is the song that should play over the final scene. Listen with headphones, the last half is glorious.
