Kill Rock Stars

Sleater-Kinney -- You're No Rock N' Roll Fun
Bouncy fun from the girls in S-K. They're rad.

The Decemberists -- The Engine Driver
Languid and destined for Sunday afternoons. I believe Petra Haden recently joined, which can only mean good things. Her and Bill Frisell's cover of Coldplay's "Yellow" is lovely.

Straight-talk woman/Smooth-talkin' daddy

Crooked Fingers -- Call To Love
Frontman Eric Bachmann used to be in Archers of Loaf, a band unbeknownst to me (Mallrats soundtrack appearance notwithstanding). However, I can't imagine it being better than Crooked Fingers, or more specifically, the songs on Dignity and Shame.

The secret weapon here is Lara Meyerratken, whose vocals absolutely KILL. Her duets with Bachmann are undoubtedly the highlights of the album. Also check out "Sleep All Summer," "Twilight Creeps," and "Weary Arms."

Transcendence Part Six.

No PC? No problem.

Alas, I am once again without 24/7 computer access so audioblogging shall be confined to what I can scrounge up on the internet. Woe is you.

Joe Strummer and The Mescaleros -- Coma Girl
Joe Strummer and The Mescaleros -- Johnny Appleseed
After hearing these, I tracked down a handful of Clash songs and found them to be quite enjoyable, especially "Spanish Bombs" and "Train In Vain (Stand By Me)" -- which includes a drum intro that was totally aped by Garbage on "Stupid Girl."

Heidi Gluck -- Wingwalker
I've mentioned her before.
